We`ve only just started May but as soon as a few rays start coming through the rain clouds the main thought is generally, `are we prepared to hit the beach?`
In preparation for my May Bank Holiday abroad I`ve road tested the newest items on the market to help my skin look hot! To help get my skin ready for the rays I`ve been exfoliating and moisturising using Clarins Self Tanning Milk to give me a gentle glow. The cream lotion is rich and without a strong smell, which I like. It is SPF 6 and has photo stable filters to protect my skin from UV rays and therefore preventing unwanted wrinkles.
I find after being in the water all day, in heat and especially on the plane my face always feels dry and tight. The best product I have come across is Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief by Clinique, it`s a gel cream formula that completely rehydrates your skin.
After a winter encased in warm boots my feet always need a much needed makeover so they were sandal worthy! I`ve been using a pumice to slough off dead skin, smothering them in a rich body and foot lotion. The best treat for your tootsies is a weekly mask by Ciat̩ called Girls night in Рmineral and seaweed foot mask. If you leave this concoction of marshmallow and seaweed mask on for ten minutes, then wash off with warm water your feet do feel so much softer and any dry skin disappears!
When I`m in the sun I always try to protect my face and hair from the sun`s rays but after being in the sea all day your hair can feel very limp. To freshen and restyle hair for a night out, spray in Bed Head`s Spoil Me Defrizzer, Smoother and Restyler by Tigi. It creates volume and hold and de-frizzes my hair even when I`m in a humid environment – it`s also ideal for a quick boosting blow dry.
In the summer with natural colour on your face, you will find that you won`t need to wear as much make-up. However, if you can`t bear to brave the beach having a bare face I`ve found some products perfect for this time of year.
Clinique have produced a lipgloss, which is SPF 15 and comes in 18 shades. Unlike most other glosses that either slip off after a few minutes or leave your lips feeling dry these vibrant glosses are super moisturising and really last.
Clinique have also come up with Quick Eyes Cream Shadows, which come in 7 neutral shades with a slight shimmer, these are ideal for light but long lasting and non-creasing colour on the beach.
I totally love all products that I can use for multi-purpose. Me Me Me at Superdrug have a bronze shimmer palette with five shades from pale gold to bronze that can be used to enhance a sun-kissed glow on the face or individually on the eyes as eyeshadows.
The best mascara I have tested to be waterproof on hot days or in the sea is Lash Power Mascara by Clinique. It was originally produced for the Asian market and stays put in every climate or in any situation, for example in the sea, under watering eyes and humidity. You`ll find that the rubberised formula can only be removed with warm water.
All products mentioned can be found on the high street at Superdrug, Clinique or online at Beauty Counter Direct.
