Spring Neutrals – are they a hit or a washout?

There are a lot of new trends floating about for spring `09 so lots to look forward to. Tribal effects are making a come back and blocks of bright colour but there`s one trend, I think that would be fun to play around with, which is this seasons neutrals! Beiges, whites, peaches and creams are all great base colours to start playing around with, and what`s great is that you can be more playful by adding bolder accent colours.

A lot of neutrals portray soft classic elegance and plenty of designers have captured this trend in their collections including Donna Karen, Betty Jackson, Stella McCartney and Matthew Williamson.

One of my favourite designers Christopher Kane comments –
`I wanted to confront colour but not let it take over the collection. One way I did this was by using nude sheaths to create a matte base for the colour to sit on.”

If you have a paler skin tone, you should stick to darker neutrals such as coffee and cinnamon colours- these colours will really compliment your skin tone! For darker skin tones, stick to buttery colours to give yourself a healthy glow! Be careful with such light colours close to your face that they don`t wash you out.

And if you like this trend and you want to start creating your spring wardrobe, here are a few examples of what I think are sophisticated effortless looks!
