Fashion lovers across the globe can`t get enough of Milly which is down to the clothing`s impeccable detail, luxurious cutting-edge fabrics and precise tailoring. It is these aspects which have made the designer label so incredibly popular and a must-see at Fashion Week. For the Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, inspiration has been drawn from the beauty of urban landscapes at night which is evident in the photorealistic prints which glow against a rich palette grounded in glistening charcoals and metallic blacks as if to represent a bustling city. Innovative fabrics and textured layers play a big role in this range that takes iconic sportswear silhouettes to a whole new level.
From laminated hologram pullovers to pencil skirts and menswear inspired bonded wool overcoats to acid wash stretch plunge leather bomber jackets, Milly`s latest collection has cleverly managed to clash garments which you wouldn`t normally think of pairing. Embossed studded leather, metallic fringe taffeta and oversize hardware add an angle of modernity whilst pops of bold colour such as teal, violet, cobalt and fluo pink bring certain pieces to life.
Check prints, which will be big for AW13, can be seen throughout the collection and was seen in a couple of variations alongside monochrome garments. Iridescent fabrics were a standout aspect to the range as this is where sport meets luxury. The light-catching garments are a total contrast against the brace detailing which are attached to trousers, shorts and skirts for a masculine edge. This gave outfits a more tailored feel like the high waisted aspect on some of the clothing. Rounded shoulders on outerwear is once again making an appearance for next season, instantly softening looks and evoking a vintage vibe.
