The fashion and a-list elite came out in full force to be a part of the unveiling of this remarkable range including Anna Wintour, Bradley Cooper, Harry Styles, Naomie Harris, Mario Testino, Olivia Palermo and Poppy Delevingne. Creative inspiration was taken from the British decorative art of the Bloomsbury set and Charleston, the country home and meeting place for the writers, painters and intellectuals who formed the group.
A host of top models including Suki Waterhouse,Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Sung Hee Kim and Xiao Wen Ju donned a host of visually stunning designs which featured feminine and abstract prints. A rich autumnal colour palette consisting of elderberry, cameo pink, blackcurrant and bright olive were teamed with English-woven cotton gabardine, leather, suede and shearling for a luxe countryside-esque appeal whilst lace hinted at an underlying romanticism theme.
Unrestricted silhouettes came in the form of relaxed trench coats, trench coat ponchos, blanket ponchos, chesterfields and blanket coats and had been given an arty makeover consisting of hand-painted simple florals, leaves and abstract decoration in gentle brushstrokes taking the much-loved cover-ups in a refreshing direction.
Looks were completed with long scarves in equally enticing prints and the newly introduced Bloomsbury bag, decorated with one-off hand-painted artworks for a playful twist on a classic style. For an unforgettable finale, and for Burberry`s Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey to show his appreciation to the participating models, each beauty wore a blanket personalised with their initials which will no doubt be on every woman`s AW14 wish-list – including mine!
