A rising star in the fashion world, this British designer`s career is going from strength to strength with this collaboration catapulting her further into the industry`s spotlight. Katie is a graduate of The Royal College of Art and is known for her creative prints fused with modern silhouettes. Her main design focus has been predominantly menswear and she has even worked closely with Kanye West on his fashion label. Over the last couple of seasons though, Eary has branched out into womenswear and is now ready to make her high street fashion debut with this sensational range for River Island Design Forum.
The 18 piece collection comprises of bold vivacious prints, sheer fluid fabrics, sexy swimwear and must-have accessories. Strong, confident women were kept in mind when designing the range as it`s these people who love to stand out from the crowd and get noticed. Having said this, animal prints in energetic colour ways on flowing maxi dresses and skirts with seductive thigh high slits as well as bleached denim shorts, dip hem Tees and billowing sleeved blouses are what we can expect from this exciting collaboration. Eccentric psychedelic dressing is what comes to mind! Accessories include heavily fringed suede bags, gold feather hooped earrings and a statement choker for ultimate bohemian chic which is a somewhat reoccurring style for spring time.
When talking about her inspiration, Katie states:
`My starting point was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Except in my story it wasn`t Johnny Depp, it was my muse (the strong woman) on a crazy hallucinatory journey through the desert. I then went on to design looks for her while she was on this journey. It all became very ‘Tribal Dipped in Gold.â€
Design Forum has established itself as a firm fixture for River Island, proving its popularity with consumers who are after a unique shopping experience. Previous designers for the Forum include William Tempest and Georgina Hardinge, who is back with her second collection for the retailer at the moment. This platform between the designer and high street world has proved successful in the past so will no doubt gather new followers for Eary and her creative eye for print infused masterpieces.
Katie says of the collaboration:
`River Island connects to the cool type of women which suits my project. All those independent, sexy, powerful women who frequent River Island, so naturally I thought we were a perfect match.â€
