Denim staples are still a key look for summer and quite frankly anything goes! Whatever shape or size you are there is a style out there to suit everyone.
‘Skinny’ jeans are as popular as ever but why not be brave and try something different? To embrace the summer, go for a lighter wash in a softer fabric or look for unique prints and coloured jeans for a fresher up-to-date look. One of my favourite mid-range denim brands is Dr Denim. The summer collection has some fabulous coloured and printed jeans that come in a high waist style that are super flattering as well as shorts and dungarees.
‘The Flare’ is definitely takes centre stage this season with a huge nod to the 70’s or Boho trends and they’re surprisingly flattering for curvier girls especially if they have a high waist. For those that have a budget to splurge, you can’t go wrong with Frame denim – Le Forever Karlie Flare high-rise jeans are a MUST-HAVE in my book this season!
‘Boyfriend’ jeans are also a style to embrace for your stylish off-duty look and can easily be dressed up or down – they look great with heels, sneakers and flats so whatever your mood these can offer your wardrobe ultimate flexibility.
‘White’ denim always seem a bit scary to me especially if there are little mucky hands around the place but there’s no reason why you can’t save them for best for a summer soiree. Add a pop of colour and accessorise them with some bright sandals, a clutch or if colour isn’t your thing then layer white on white for a super stylish look.
My first port of call when deciding on some new denim additions is in department stores or specialist boutiques – my go-to places off the top of my head are House of Fraser and Selfridges (in store and online) as well as Donna Ida in Belgravia and Chelsea. Net-a-porter.com is always worth a look as you’re bound to find a gem hidden!
