One of the best things about the onset of winter is that it’s the perfect excuse to invest in a new coat. It’s always a mistake to buy too early, as there is far less of a choice, but now is the ideal time to buy. A coat should see you through until at least the end of February, and as you’ll probably be wearing it almost every day, you need one that screams, ‘I’m chic, simple and fabulous!’
du Maurier Coat
A dramatic waisted coat with gently puffed sleeves cut on the bias. Part of the ethical Hebridean collection, it is priced at £685 and available in sizes 10 to 18.
Based in Elstead in Surrey Eloise Grey is a luxury coat brand that is one of my own particular favourites. Believing that people want clothing made from high quality fabrics, and crafted rather than mass produced, she has established a feminine coat collection inspired by fine tailoring and the period of the 1930’s and 1940’s.
After trying on many of these beauticul coats I now have my eye on Elizabeth II, a knee length A-line coat with a large back pleat and collar in Organic Oatmeal. It’s priced at £595 and available in sizes 10 to 18.
