I’m loving…BBC Three’s new style show, Snog, Marry Avoid, it’s brilliant!
For those of you who haven’t seen it, the programme is the total opposite of traditional make-over shows and actually gives its subjects make-UNDERS!
The show searches for the country’s worst style offenders, you know the kind of girls you see out on a Saturday night that are wearing so much make-up you can’t work out if they’re in fancy dress or not? In essence, it’s the Jodie-Marsh wannabes of the UK who come under the spotlight for their awful style.
Cue a bevy of wannabe glamour girls dressed in skirts that resemble belts, duct tape for tops and naff hair extensions that would give Britney (circa last year’s breakdown) a run for her money.
And the make-up? Put it this way, it’d take a litre of white spirit to get the foundation off most of the girls featured and it’s a wonder how they actually manage to see with the amount of mascara they have clinging to their false eyelashes for dear life.
But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel - the show, fronted by stylish Atomic Kitten Jenny Frost, transforms the women from trashy to classy.
They’re forced to think about why they dress the way they do, which is actually quite sad because you can tell that the real reason they dress like they’ve raided a sex shop is because they don’t feel attractive in their natural state.
They’re also subjected to hearing the results of a survey, in which men were asked whether they’d rather snog, marry or avoid them. Funny how we can predict the results better than these girls can!
But after the stick comes the carrot and the contestants get a full-on make under, where they’re given more natural make-up, grown up haircuts and more demure clothes. Et Voila, they look 100 times better!
Interestingly, the show catches up with the contestants three months later, with some doing well and others reverting to their former selves.
The show also features men with bad style, but the trashy girls are definitely the best to watch!
The show is on BBC Three on Mondays at 8.30pm - set your SkyPlus now!
