Why Are Skinny Jeans Still In?

I love skinny jeans and I also like the looks you can recreate with them but it doesn’t necessarily mean I look or feel good in them …

I have to say that I am a size 8-10, not particularly large but why do I still feel self-conscious wearing them?

I do the classic thing of thinking that when I have a thin day I can wear them with confidence, but as soon as I put them on they quickly come off. The sight is sore when I am stood in front of my bedroom mirror. I see girls that are bigger then me wondering round town in skinny jeans like they couldn’t care less but I guess they must feel slightly more comfortable with their bodies, otherwise they would stay from them like I do.

However, I really do like them and so much so that my skinny jeans still remain in my wardrobe – just in case (for those thin days that I very rarely get). I hate the thought of throwing them out because if I do then I have this mental issue of thinking that I am not fashionable anymore because I don’t own a pair of skinny jeans. It’s a funny scenario because I have a cheapish pair of skinny jeans, which I paid under £20 for and an expensive pair, which I paid over £100 for. My thinking behind this was that if I paid more for them they would actually make me look and feel better in them, how wrong I was because in fact I have worn the cheaper ones more … What was I thinking?

This article is all about finding out from my loyal readers why we are just wearing these jeans … Is it because they are still fashionable and the high street are still selling them or do we really love them that much and feel great in them?

I guess at the end of day we are all human and if we don’t feel good, we don’t feel good, it’s just best to accept the fact that we can’t wear them. Just thank your lucky stars if you can wear these skinny little jeans with ease but please know that you are envied by the not so fortunate – wear them with pride and be happy! xx

Something you might consider with Skinny Jeans are Gladiator Sandals.

I absolutley LOVE my skinny jeans!  Once I got my first pair, I’ve never worn any other type of jean again.  I’ve actually been getting them skinnier and skinnier each time I get a new pair.  I love them so much, even when they are completley out of “style” I will still be wearing them.  I am a very petite person, 5’2 and 110lbs and they make my legs look alot longer than they actually are, in complete contrast to bootcut or flared jeans.  YAY FOR SKINNY JEANS!

Skinny jeans are the best! Once you put them on and realize how flattering they look on you, WHY would you ever go back? They make legs look long and show off your curves. They are the perfect staple to any outfit. I can’t imagine wearing any other type of jeans again.

I have some Skinny Jeans and I think they’re great! Some are really comfortable and they make you look sleek. I just love it. I hope more people will give Skinny Jeans a chance! You might like them! :]

I can’t stand skinny jeans. My feeling is that they’re made for the people who already look fantastic in anything - really skinny people - and they look ridiculous on anyone else.

I absolutely love skinny jeans. Even though they are technically “last season,” I will probably always wear them. They’re actually very comfortable to me because they are nicely fitted. However, I do agree that they are probably only meant for skinny people.

I also love skinny jeans but I do believe they are very difficult to wear..
In general, they are a lot more flattering in darker colours, as they make your legs look thinner..washed denim is a no-no for most girls!
This winter I’ll be wearing mine with short jumper dresses and Mary Janes.
And in the evening, I’ll pair them with my new 5’’ ankle boots for a super sexy look!

I love love love skinny jeans!
I own a few pairs myself, and
I will never wear any other type
of jeans again.
I actually feel much more comfortable
and confident in skinnies, more so
than any other kind of pants.
You can also wear just about anything
with them, all the more to love them.

overweight people look funny in skinny jeans with short t shirts:!!!!!!!

TIP

try balancing your outfit with
a tunic type blouse

a long fitted tshirt or babydoll

try something that balances a womanly shape so that your outfit is like really short dress with leggins.

Skinny jeans look terrible, in my opinion. EVEN ON SKINNY PEOPLE.

Especially the ones plastered to someone’s skin. That’s just gross and tasteless. I honestly don’t know how these ever came into fashion - I guess just like big hairdos and the like.

Forget skinny, go straight leg! Im a slim (8-10) 5,7” tall gal, but because I have curves they just scream a bit too much 80’s leggings! I dont ‘do’ overly casual, so I prefer a straight leg and a nice pair of heeled boots - classic and classy!

I have to say i agree wih tge main article.im 5’’2.5 and about 105 pound) 7 anda half stone.I only wear them on a skinny day they are great for keeping aware about your body shape though. To feel comfortable in them I would have to be 7pounds lighter to feelvery comfortable!

I think they look bad on everyone. It makes you look like a triangle: huge on top, and tiny on the bottom. I’m a size 4 and I would still never wear them. They are ALL TYPES OF UNFLATTERING. “why are they still in”, indeed!

Posted by steph  on Wed 2nd January 2008 at 03:53 AM | #

im also quite tall 5’8 and size 8, and actually do think that i am slim))))and no, skinnies are not for super skinny people, it’s all b*****
i do not have bones sticking out of me but still own 10 pairs of skinnies and love the trend!
You just have to know what to wear with it to hide your minuses!some people wear them with longer tops, i personally go for sky high shoes...usually open toes, and now during the winter i pair it with warm funky coloured socks. I know i am stylish and i always get compliments the way i dress, so girls try it=) you might drop this whole misconception all together!

Skinny Jeans are actually flattering on anybody if you purchase the right kind.

I am actually a size 12 and I look quite good in them.

If you are larger, believe it or not, buy a really tight pair. They hold you in.

They make your legs look longer.

They are more flattering than wide leg pants because those add bulk to your frame.

I am 5 11, 150-something pounds… I hate my thighs but I just bought a pair of skinny jeans today and the difference is incredible! It is extremely comfortable and it only cost me 25$ !!!

I never thought I would like skinny jeans one day!  It proves that you have to try before judging

After reading the above article, i completely agree with you. We should wonder and have a reason (a correct reason) for wearing skinny jeans.
I have some skinny jeans, and i really like them. I, myself am a size 10. I feel good in them. But like you said, we are all different. However, i do think that you should your clothes beacuse you feel good about yourself, not because you want to follow fashion.
The only thing I hate about skinny jeans is that I have to buy a size 12, and they are huge on my waist, fitting my thights perfectly.

I love jeans that stretch and snug my curves especially low rise jeans since I have no butt! I love that they are stilll selling them because other pants that are out there that are too high waisted and bother my stomach and make me want to unbotton my pants, also that are too baggy in the bottom and make me look father and all nappy like I didn’t fix myself...so I got to say that I love these jeans and will be wearing them if they are not in fashion""" anymore.

Personally, I detest skinny jeans… For myself at least. I am a size 8/10 and boy howdy, do those drain pipes look horrendous on me. It isn’t a matter of size, its a matter of body shape. My weight sits fairly low on my hips, so I look like a double wide in itty bitty pants.
Slimmer hips look better in skinny jeans.

I’m 5’5”, size 13, and LOVE how my skinny jeans look on me! You don’t have to be thin to wear them, but I guess it depends on body type as well. For me, they work better than all my other jeans, and are very comfy too! smile

i LOVE skinny jeans. Even though i am only 14 i have 27 pairs. I have all colours form blue to yellow to bright pink to black. I have fat thighs, but i doont care bacause i see people sized 16 wear them and if they can anyone can =)

Posted by I  on Mon 4th February 2008 at 05:11 PM | #

I’m 5’3”, 100 pounds. The perfect candidate for these jeans, right?
But I can’t stand them. I would never wear those things. They look awful on 99% of the population, and only ‘ok’ on the remaining 1%. And it doesn’t matter how thin you are, skinny jeans make your feet look comically large, unless you wear a size 5 or something.

I just don’t get this trend. I’d be in the 1% that would look ‘ok’, but I still just don’t like them.

WoW! You sound just like me! I’m 5’2” and weigh 8 stone. I just purchased some skinny jeans and I have yet to try them on, however, I keep reading about how to wear them, and what to wear them with (before I dare to try them on). I have also seen girls bigger than me walking around town wearing them, and they look good!!
I think there is a very important question to be asked here:
Do we care too much about what people think?
I think everyone should just be themselves, plus skinny jeans outline a good figure rather than cover it up with wide legs

Hope this helps!!

I love skinny jeans, and I think they they can look good on anyone. You just need to get the right size, and wear something to balence you out on top (; x

I’m not a large person but I’m not ‘skinny’ either. I’ve got one pair of skinny jeans that look okay but I’ve been looking for another pair and they all look terrible on me! It’s really annoying because I do quite like them. I just don’t like the whole muffin top a lot of people seem to be displaying from them. When they fit right they look good but it’s tricky to find the right fit.

I’m in love with my skinny jeans, I look spectacular in them… I’m 5,6’ and 114 lb so I feel just perfect when I’m wering a pair of skinny jeans

Hi, Im a man in my fifties 5ft 8 40in chest and i love to wear skinny/slim jeans. They are really comfortable and soft not like mens stiff and baggy jeans. Most of the time i buy Levis/lee,s because i find they fit really nice. Some I would go out in because i feel quite confident but the real skinneys i think it will take a bit of time.
What do you girls honestly think about men wearing skinney jeans.
I think you all look great really cool

ok...at the top of this article, you stated: “I love skinny jeans and I also like the looks you can recreate with them but it doesn’t necessarily mean I look or feel good in them”.........isnt tht the point though? to look good & feel good?
RIDICULOUS!
Any man caught in skinny jeans should be promtly hung from the ceiling by them....
& the hetrosexual male point of view of women in skinny jeans is.....well...most of us are having a right good laugh!
Cmon girls....stop following all this fashionista nonsense & develop your own style! bin the celeb ragmags!

i mostly like them (i need a new pair actually, my topshop ones have expanded by about two sizes - warning to everyone, DON’T buy them from there!). sometimes skinny jeans make my thighs look really long and my calves really short though, definitely not a look i want :S

Posted by Hazz  on Fri 25th July 2008 at 05:17 PM | #

I’ve always been self conscious my thighs so I’ve stayed away from skinny jeans. I decided to be brave one day and tired a pair on. I feel in love with them. They are comfy and made my thighs look even slimmer.
