It’s not everyday we’re offered beauty products to review at TopStylista.com but I jumped at the chance when Beauty Counter Direct asked me whether the girls and I would like to participate.

As we all have different skin types and natural colourings I thought it would be fun to see the outcome and as the Pout competition is exceeding my expectations with entries it was a treat for us to give these products a try ourselves.

Chantelle’s Review:
I had never seen Too Faced cosmetics up close, let used them before but I’d seen the range displayed in Boots previously, which immediately caught my eye because of the striking branding and packaging.

I very rarely buy cosmetics and if I do push the boat out and treat myself to the odd lip gloss then I usually stick to the same old brands … unless I’ve seen an incredible review in a magazine, telling me it’s a must-have-all-singing-all-dancing-must-buy!

The Too Faced New Romantic palette consisted of some of my favourite colours, dark grey, deep aubergine and dusky light pink for my eyes and deep aubergine, dusky and baby pink lip glosses with a rose blusher. The colours looked richer in the palette than they did once I had applied them, which I was glad about because I wore them during the day and felt they looked natural. I had to apply quite a lot of shadow to my eyes to get the effect I was after but once I persevered I was really pleased with the result.

‘The Cupcake Pretty Pink Palette’ is a great size and fitted easily in my new snakeskin clutch bag but I think an applicator and even a small mirror in the lid would have been the icing on my Cupcake Pretty Pink Palette.

Helen’s Review:
The first thing that strikes you about Too Faced is the fantastic packaging and I mean FANTASTIC.  The ‘New Romantic’ make up collection is boudoir chic, in tones of pink with a raised peacock design.  The clever contents contain a mirror, three eye shadows, lip glosses and one blusher which all complement each other and can be mixed as you please depending on the occasion.  I wore the neutral lip gloss and rose eye shadow as a blusher for the office, then a chocolate eye shadow and rose lip gloss in the evening.  The eye shadow had great staying power but was a little crumbly during the application.

My favourite though was ‘The Quickie Chronicles’ pocket size palettes.  I like ‘Naughty Neutral Palette’ containing two glosses, two eye shadows and a blush.  The colours were just my cup of tea and it fitted perfectly in my purse.  The only thing I would have liked to have seen is an applicator included for those trips to the ladies!

Lidia’s Review:
The best thing about the Glittering Glam make up palette is the size. It is so small and compact you can fit it in the smallest of handbags and the magnets keep it safely closed. The eye shadows blend well and give a nice, glittery colour and the blush has a lovely shimmer and lasts pretty long; the lip gloss, on the contrary, doesn’t last very well but has a nice texture and is easy to apply. There is one last thing to add, it would have been useful to include a mini applicator.
Tried & Tested: 7/10

I love the New Romantic make up collection palette! There is a nice choice of colours, combining warm, strong shades and nudes, both for eyes and lips. The blush is very subtle and gives a nice healthy looking glow. Both the eye shadows and lip gloss have a smooth texture and apply really well. The slim packaging is practical and beautiful, girlie and elegant at the same time, and it would make it a fantastic gift. I would definitely recommend this product.

Cassandra’s Review:
I love my Too Faced Passionate Peacock compact, the eye colours are so subtle and long lasting, also the lip gloss and the blusher was divine - I created a smoky effect with the emerald green and brown eye shadow included in this fantastic little package.
I don’t use blusher as I am naturally rosy cheeked but this went down a treat as it is not overtly red or orange, but more of a salmon colour which blended well with my dark skin.  Also I love the compact book, which is great to thrown in your bag for any emergency.

The New Romantic make up collection is a great compact I want to use more and more; the colours are not too overbearing and so trendy with their metallic edge.  Fantastic for all skin tones; I’m afraid there wasn’t a colour I didn’t like - gold, hot pink and brown. I am going to wear these everyday especially the dark gold and hot pink eye shadows worn together. The blusher in this compact again is not too overbearing and also acts as a great highlighter; add more to create a more dramatic effect. I truly love this palette and it so fantastically packaged and easy to throw in your handbag as well – I adore the little mirror too!
