When most of us are invited to a wedding we automatically rush out to buy a dress. It’s a good chance for us to go shopping and it’s also a great excuse to dress up!
After spending ages trying on different dresses and then deciding on ‘the one’ we then have to think about how to accessorise it. This is usually the last thing we tend to think about and it can be hard especially when your feeling tired and exhausted after a days shopping.
Here are some tips of how to accessorise easily.
1) Remember that less is more when it comes to accessorising an outfit.
2) A necklace is a good piece to go for as this will set off any dress you have bought. If you like big, chunky necklaces then tone down on earrings and bracelets, if you wear all these items together it will look too fussy so concentrate on having one major focal point.
3) Look at your outfit and pick out a colour which you can match accessories to. The end result will be satisfying and it will look like you have spent ages putting your outfit together. Look in Accessorise for a reasonably priced place to start, the jewellery collections in-store are colour coded so it’s easy to walk in and see where you need to start looking straight away.
4) When it comes to picking shoes to match your outfit, look at the main colour of your outfit. You want shoes to be matched neutrally or if your feeling bold try to find shoes which match exactly. Silver and gold shoes are a good solution to match with dresses which are adorned in sequins and beads, this is very smart but fun look and great for a wedding. Also look for sequinned and beaded flip flop style shoes, these look very cute and are comfortable to wear!
5)If you think that you are going to need a wrap or shrug then match the colour with a small detail or pattern in your outfit. If you match the wrap with the main colour of your outfit, overall, it will look plain and boring.
6) If you are planning to wear a hat then keep it simple. Go for plain colours and pick out a colour in your outfit to coordinate it with. If you want to wear an outrageous hat then keep your hair simple. There are lots of smaller alternatives that you can wear instead of hats. Look in Debenhams, Accessorise, House of Fraser and Marks and Spencer for delicate wedding head wear.
7) If your not used to wearing high heeled shoes then go for a lower heel as a comfortable alternative. Look around if you can’t find what your looking for, in the long term you will thank yourself for persevering. Weddings usually last all day and it’s a long time to be on your feet!
