The Famous Marie-Claire’s Gatineau Paris Hydra-Source Facial at The Retreat

A family friend had recommended that I pop along and see Marie-Claire in her beauty studio at The Retreat in Passfield, after all I’d heard nothing but positive feedback and seen the results for myself.

It was my 30th birthday a few weeks ago and I thought of nothing better than being pampered before my BIG birthday – lets face it we all know everything heads down south from here on in, doesn’t it? I was willing to make a valid investment. It certainly appealed to pay Marie-Claire a visit rather than make a trip into the city as I wasn’t in the mood for getting stuck in traffic and driving round aimlessly trying to find somewhere to park – fear of turning up more stressed than I had already been feeling was not on my agenda.

I arrived at The Retreat and it appeared in the most idyllic setting away from all the hustle and bustle. The beauty studio was quiet, warm and inviting; the ambience also exceeded my expectations with gorgeous smelling candles carefully placed around the room for desired effect. I’d had many facials previously in hotter climates so I was looking forward to drifting off into a state of relaxation – total bliss in my book.

I had never heard of the Gatineau Paris or Murad beauty products that Marie-Claire had introduced me to on the day but I was open-minded and settled for the fact I was really going to enjoy this pampering experience.

My skin was prepped and carefully observed, I was told that it was sorely dehydrated, which I had suspected – hmmm mental note to self - I must drink more water … it was time to sit back, relax and enjoy the recommended 75 minute Hydra-Source Facial.

The entire experience was fabulous, thoroughly heart-warming with my skin and body fully recharged and totally energised- this was so much more than just a facial. The mini shiatsu massage in the beginning really helped me to relax, the hydrating mask zapped zing back into my skin and the hot stones, which were placed underneath my shoulders eased the months of tightness and tension.

I loved the fact that this experience was absolutely bespoke and I get from Marie-Claire that she gives this much personal attention to each and every one of her clients. I will definitely be paying Marie-Claire another visit sooner rather than later as it was the best £55 I’ve spent in months that made me feel elated and ready to face my 30’s with a bang!

Since leaving The Retreat I have been trying out Marie-Claire’s recommended Gatineau Paris products instead of my usual Dermalogica favourites, just because I found the consistency sits well on my face and when its applied how smooth it makes my skin feel - watch this space!
