Oxfam’s online vintage charity shop - a place for unique finds!

I absolutely love vintage shops!  The excitement of rifling through all the clothes, shoes and accessories looking for that extra special bargain item!  My problem though is that all my favourite ones seem to be in London and, living in Hampshire, can be quite costly and time consuming to get to them.  But it seems my prayers have been answered as Oxfam has recently launched the UK’s first online vintage charity shop!  This has made me a very happy shopper indeed!

Sourced from Oxfam shops and boutiques around the country this new section on the Oxfam site will stock the biggest selection of vintage clothing anywhere online!  Browse through thousands of gorgeous handpicked items from the 1950’s to the 1980’s including women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, bags and accessories.

You could even get your hands on a 1950’s leather clasp handbag, a floral 1970’s maxi dress, a batwing leather jacket or even a retro evening gown – there’s just too much to choose from!  But not only will you be nabbing a unique find you’ll be helping to fight poverty around the world too.

Regular blogs, advice and inspiration are also featured from Oxfam’s guest style gurus including Whistles CEO, Jane Shepherdson; BBC vintage expert, Katherine Higgins; fashion author, Christa Weil; ethical stylist, Lupe Castro; Trendstop CEO, Jaana Jatyri and stylist Fee Doran.

It truly is a great place to go if you’re a vintage lover as you read insider tips on identifying valuable items to advice on customising or caring for vintage finds.  You’ll know everything and anything about vintage by the end!

Sarah Farquhar, Oxfam’s head of retail, says:

“Oxfam has been the face of vintage style on Britain’s high streets for over 60 years.  We’ve seen enthusiasm for unique second-hand and retro fashion boom over the last few years, and now it’s not unusual for A-list stars to walk the red carpet in vintage Oxfam gowns instead of the latest designer items.

“The beauty of fashion is that it can be recycled and reused again and again, with a treasured item donated by one person offering endless possibilities for someone else.  Our new vintage site is an opportunity for us to share some of the amazing items we have donated to our shops with an even wider audience and to raise more money for our work around the world.”

So sit back, relax, put the kettle on and get shopping!
