Must-Have Coats & Jackets for Winter 2011 – the styles are endless!
Choosing the right coat for winter can be exciting! I love shopping for outerwear and the high street has so many fabulous styles to offer these days it’s hard to decide on just one – which is why I have quite a few hanging in my wardrobe… From casual designs such as duffle and quilted coats to the more elegant styles like cape and maxi length, you’ll be excited about the weather getting colder!
Bright shades are one of the biggest trends for this season and are a great way of livening up your winter wardrobe. If you want to give this look a go then choose a 60’s shape coat in a vibrant colour of yellow, orange, pink, green, red or blue. Faux fur styles are also taking over the high street. They can add a luxurious feel to day and night outfits keeping you warm and stylish at the same time. Make sure the style you choose fits perfectly though as you don’t want it to swamp you!

Elegant coat styles include the cape and maxi. The array of prints and colours are amazing and will bring a chic twist to winter outfits. The maxi coat fits in well with the 70’s trend too so go all out if you want to impress! Another graceful design for this season is the single breasted coat. They are perfect for adding a sophisticated edge to day looks and work best when worn slightly oversized. For a 60’s vibe team it with a polo neck and wide leg trousers. Fabulous!

The practical style of duffle coats makes them fashion must-haves for this season. To incorporate a few other trends, choose a design with faux fur trimmings or one that comes in a bright shade. Quilted jackets are no longer just for the country! I’ve already invested in one for this season and I must say it is super comfy and keeps me really warm. They are perfect for rainy days too as most designs are waterproof! If you have a large bust though avoid this style as it will add extra padding.

Military coats are back again this season – there is no stopping them! Their structured style will perfectly contrast a feminine dress or go well with jeans and knee high boots. For a design without a collar, try adding a skinny belt to the waist for an updated twist! With so many different versions such as double breasted, masculine, long and short styles there is one for every body shape!
