Body image and clothing tend to have intrinsic links. Dressing in a way that does not suit your natural body shape can really produce less than pleasing results.
A good way of avoiding previous mistakes and rejoicing in your style triumphs is to keep a fashion photo album of yourself - like this one here. Have pictures taken everytime you go to a major event, date, interview etc. This is helpful for a few reasons.
1. Most people overestimate their body size and shape. A well lit photo can often give you a very good record of what you actually look like, what fits best and what doesn’t.
2. Photographs of when we’re looking at our best can boost confidence or remind us of “what not to wear” in the future.
3. Mirrors only tell part of the story. A few well shot photo’s can give you perspective.
4. Opinions from friends and family can be influenced by wanting to protect your feelings. Photos don’t lie - usually! A good stylist will also provide honest opinion and advice.
Keeping a timeline of your fashion experiences in a quality photo album like this one from KikiJames isn’t only helpful, it also provides a great legacy for your kids.
Although, they may laugh their socks off when they see you wearing footless tights or skirts over jeans 20 years from now!!!
