I was shopping last Saturday with a new client when she told me of a good friend of hers in the States that had recently launched in October 2008 a debut collection of eco-friendly sunglasses made from sustainable bamboo! I was really intrigued and thought it an interesting piece to showcase on TopStylista.com, so she put her friend and me in touch so I could find out more …
Jamie Lim, Founder of KAYU out of pure commitment was inspired to produce an ethical stylish piece of eyewear out of durable bamboo. Her ultimate aim to bring the gift of sight to the developing world is one that she is actually achieving.
Jamie is proud to state, ‘For every pair of glasses purchased, KAYU donates $50 to fund one sight-restoring surgery in the developing world. It’s easy, you buy a pair of glasses, you restore a patient’s sight. One for one.’
Jamie believes we all make millions of choices everyday that affects our planet and the people who live on it. Unfortunately many choices are made without much thought, and result in the degradation of our earth and its resources. She believes that small changes in the way we live can have a positive impact on our environment and the global community.
We here at TopStylista.com admire Jamie’s work, from idea to living her real life dream - a wonderful positive story all round and a stylish way to save the planet! Jamie, we salute and support you.
KAYU sunglasses can be purchased in the UK from fashion-conscience.com.
