Hold your horses, jodhpurs are making a comeback!

Once in a while an unusual item of clothing returns to the High Street, daring us to wear it! This Autumn, we’re going posh as the riding jodhpur makes a come back!

All the big brands are shortly going to be introducing a wide variety of styles for varying pockets. Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Matches, Browns and Selfridges all have jodhpurs on order.

Before all you country folk go running for your wardrobes to dig out those sexy fit beige numbers, we’re talking about a slightly different style of jodhpur - we’re talking the likes of £600 made by Nicolas Ghesquière.

According to a few retailers I spoke to, the waiting lists are full, boutiques are entering into combat zones to get hold of them, and no-one has seen demand quite like this before.
The emergence of the new generation of jodhpur could actually see the slow death of the skinny jean ... well, until 10 years time anyway!
If you’re in the market for a pair of jodhpurs then be sure look for ones with pockets on the bums rather than the sides as jodhpurs can accentuate your hips very easily and could make you look like Biggles!

If you really want to present chic, opt for the pairs with buttons from calf to ankle, which you can adjust to give yourself more leeway. Steer well clear of horsy props, unless you want people to think you are entering a equestrian competition. They are a sloaney look so play up to it, accessorise with pearls and a blazer for maximum effect. In terms of shoes, look to your heels or platform collections.
