I popped along to my nearest HeavenV Spa in Farborough a few days ago to find out what it was all about. I’d never been to a Virgin Active Heath Club let alone enter the HeavenV zone, we pulled up in the car park and the club building looked very ‘designer and high tech’, for a health club anyway but what do you expect from a Virgin experience. I didn’t expect it to be a drive through the local housing estate but the location I must say was perfect. The club had such an energetic buzz about it and that was even before we climbed the stairs to the gym area. I was amazed at the amount of equipment on offer and I could imagine even at peak times the gym wouldn’t get too packed that you couldn’t get on a machine to start your fitness workout. The amount of room upstairs was incredible too with lots of space for floor exercising.
We were seated outside the treatment rooms where we completed our health questionnaires and soon enough we were enjoying our full body massages, which lasted an hour each. I was dubious that I’d still hear the loud and pumping running machines through the treatments room walls but they must have been extra padded for pure relaxation purposes. The treatment was fantastic and a perfect way to spend a day off and winding down from shopping appointments - working non-stop for 6 days in a row can take its toll when you’re on your feet all day!
After being pampered senseless we made our way down to the pool area where we enjoyed the hot dry heat of the shared male/female sauna, the bubbles in the bath-like Jacuzzi and wet heat of the fresh eucalyptus-smelling steam room. We rotated these facilities to ensure we got the best all round pampering routine before our skin turned too wrinkly. What a fabulous way to spend a day off but more importantly a great chance to treat your mum to a wonderful girlie’s pamper day!
