Jigsaw has always been softly placed on the High Street amidst visually stronger brands offering favourite casual and highly wearable collections every season. However, as we turn the corner into Autumn and Winter 2007 the collection changes direction slightly, in keeping with our English heritage and marks a new and exciting chapter ahead.
The new collection heralds the arrival of Louise Trotter, Jigsaw’s newly appointed Creative Director and for her first collection has looked at the company’s heritage for inspiration. Realising that Jigsaw was in need of a new look the mood is very much inspired by English eccentric country living with an interesting mix of old with new, heirlooms coupled with hand-me-downs and pure decadence has total relevance in this new collection.
Focusing on all things luxury, fabrics, cashmeres, fine wools, wallpaper jacquards, velvets and silks in unexpected mixes contribute to the feel along with blown herringbones, donegals and tweeds have been inspired by English gents, while other masculine influences including nautical and military detailing are also key.
Coats play a major role in any Autumn / Winter collection and the Jigsaw collection is no exception predominantly form the backbone of this classic yet quirky collection with swing, cocoon, cape and voluminous shapes worn easily over slim or wide pleated trousers. Elegant column dresses and full tulip skirts form feminine curves, layered with puff sleeve blouses and sweaters.
Accentuate the innocent English prep school boy look with must-have accessories such as college type stripe scarves, berets, satchels and boy-scout belts. Trilbies, hard-wearing boyish lace-up boots and old-fashioned doctors bags will complete this look perfectly!
