Coats are a winter necessity and with the winters seemingly more snowy than ever, being warm is top of the list. Being warm AND stylish is a different story. Ticking all the trend boxes this year will mean having to include some or one of the following:

Carrying on from 2010, the cape is very much here to stay. We are huge lovers of the cape trend and think it is a stylish, elegant way of dressing. What is slightly different about the cape is that this year, ponchos will be equally as popular. This years styles have ranged from sexy to sporty so there is something for everyone and every occasion.

Faux Fur will also be a continuing trend, a fabulous look that screams ëlook at meí you can team this with sunglasses for instant glam factor or simply dress it down with skinny jeans and knee high boots suitable for tackling ice and snow. No fashionista wants to be seen sprawled on the floor. If you do not like the faux fur then opt for its sister trend, animal prints.

The macho factor is a winter trend that has also made itself know in smaller statements such as brogues. Now this trend has progressed to full on boyish outfits and coats are included. Opt for oversized coats or jackets with oxford shirts, tailored trousers and lace ups. Mix and match by throwing in a sequinned jacket on nights out. Oversized coats are going to be huge this year and Victoria Beckhamís collection of ladies coats has some good examples if you are looking for inspiration.

Last but by no means least, fetish has come over all fashionable. Get yourself a real leather jacket and team it with sheer panels and stockings for a very naughty but bang on trend look.
