I don’t know what your thoughts are on this subject let me know, but these celebrities are not easing up when it comes to creating their own fragrance, endorsing an already established brand and releasing their own clothing line.
Would you be seen dead in this?
Edie Dress by L.A.M.B - $425.00
Classic Zip Hoodie by L.A.M.B - $325
We have Sean John, Babyphat, Phat Farm, L.A.M.B by Gwen Stefani just to name a few and as for celebrities lending their name to brands well Liz Hurley has followed Penelope Cruz and her sister to Mango with her own swimwear collection. Beyonce Knowles not only has her own label House of Dereon but also became best friends with Giorgio Armani and has her own fragrance called Diamonds. Kate Moss now has her own range in TopShop, which has been a good move for Sir Philip Green. Fashion especially from the urban sense of things is becoming more than just a label but more of a way of life and it’s also a way of getting US, the consumer to buy into more of that celebrity lifestyle.
Rocawear has endorsed a sub element to their advertisement campaign and allowed themselves to become more than just a label with the supporting statement, “I will not fail”. This creates a sense of wellbeing and strength. Justin Timberlake joined forces with his best friend to bring us the William Rast range, Eve has her line Fetish, Bow Wow’s line is Shago which is very U.S. urban and 50 Cent joined forces with the Ecko label to endorse the G-Unit entertainment and now fashion label.
If this is all too overwhelming for you I haven’t even gone into the different fragrances our celebrities have to offer. Usher, Jade Goody, Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, P Diddy, Celine Dion, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson … wow, just name the celebrity and they have more than likely got their own fragrance.
I’m not knocking these individuals for expanding their dreams and embarking upon different challenges but what happened to the people who have strived and worked hard to achieve the same goals? Are they being shunned out because we don’t believe in independent fashion anymore? Or, are these celebrity-clothing lines just a name on a t-shirt or beautiful designs that have genuine depth and creativity? Let me know your thoughts please as I would love to know if you think.
