Way back in 2003, L’Oreal launched one of the UK’s most popular anti-aging skincare ranges.  Back then it was called ‘Wrinkle Decrease’ and since it has come to be known as the ‘Collagen Re-Plumper’ range.  Nowadays, due to increased media attention, brands like L’Oreal can use Buzz words such as ‘collagen’ in their ranges and be sure that this will spark the interest of thousands, if not millions of consumers.

When it comes to hair, I go natural.  I am a natural blonde (well, with natural looking highlights…!)  I don’t straighten my hair, instead I prefer to leave my natural waves and kinks to their own devices.  For this reason I am somewhat averse to using hair products that glare at you with their neon packaging and their chemical formulas.  This has never held me back though – I stick to the natural products in Boots, which tend not to be too much more expensive than the slightly less natural hair ranges.  However the one product that I have always had to compromise on is Dry Shampoo.  I cannot live without it, so my well meant organic-herbo-back-to-basic-morals have had to be relaxed for this one necessity.

Those in the know have been squeezing in a visit to this beauty guru in between their Harrods shopping sprees, claiming their youthful radiance is down to good genetics. No such luck. It’s down to an expert eye and some brilliant beauty science.

Known in the industry as London’s lip queen, Rita has been tweaking the rich and famous for over 15 years.  Want Angeline Jolie pout?  Check.  Baby smooth skin? No problem.  Fancy erasing those worry lines? Sorted.  Bust that cellulite for Summer? Done.

When I look for practical cosmetics – I have to admit LUSH is not always my first port of call.  The intoxicating and delicious smell that oozes out of LUSH stores places the brand in my mind somewhere in between the realms of florist and grocery.  So when I go out looking for skincare essentials for my make-up artist kit it is not normally my first port of call.

L’Oréal has always been partial to a bit of market research, one of the things that I love about them, and at their latest Volume Million Mascara launch I was informed that women in the UK have very specific mascara needs and wants.  In fact so specific that L’Oréal, the global organisation, has decided to create a mascara just for us, the British!
