Northern Irish fashion designer Zoe Boomer creates beautiful clothing that can be worn effortlessly from day to evening.  Each piece combines simplicity, style and luxury which most women want these days – clothing that they can dress up or down with the clever use of accessories!  She designs pieces she herself loves to wear and only uses the best silks and chiffons.  I’ve fallen head over heels in love with Zoe’s Spring/Summer 2010 Collection.  Minimalism and femininity are fused together creating clothing you can wear over and over again!

Having styled for the fabulous Natasha Bedingfield, Zoe has gone from strength to strength in the world of fashion.  She studied at the London College of Fashion and after she graduated went to work alongside one of London’s top stylists, styling for London and New York based fashion publications.  Zoe has also worked at London Fashion Week and it was in 2006 that she launched her fashion label.

Each collection is created in her studio in Putney and each piece is hand-stitched with Zoe keeping a close eye on all aspects of production, approving every single garment created – dedication and passion for something she loves!

I was extremely lucky to have had a chance to interview Zoe and here is what she said…

I can imagine nearly every woman has dreamed of owning a cashmere garment.  The luxurious material has been around for years and many fashionistas cannot resist the softness of a cashmere jumper!  N. Peal, founded in 1936 by Norman Peal, has traded in cashmere knitwear from the boutique in the exclusive Burlington Arcade for more than 70 years!

N.Peal’s commitment to quality has remained constant over the many years and the garments they produce today are created with the same care and attention.  They have attracted celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Ava Gardner, Jackie Kennedy, Christina Onassis, Princess Diana and Helena Christensen – all having worn pieces from N.Peal’s collections!

I’ve always wanted to travel to Japan to experience their culture and fashion.  There is something very unique and awe-inspiring about their clothing and style.  The quirkiness and creativity draws people into the unfamiliar.  I see so much attention paid to London Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and all the other European events but I’m surprised to see that not much attention is given to Japan Fashion Week.  This is all going to change though and the first step is the Japanese Boutique Harajuku Freak!  It stocks designers from Japan Fashion Week not found anywhere else in the west and has already caught the attention of Jay-Z and The Black Eyed Peas!

Expect rare, limited and avant-garde pieces on this new online fashion boutique from designers such as Garconshinos, whose pieces have been worn by actress Chiaki Kuriyama, from Kill Bill fame, and rapper Kid Cudi.  One of the most successful Japanese models, Anna Tsuchiya, is a fan of designer Motonari Ono who is also featured on the site.

Each piece featured on the site is so beautifully contrasted with the use of an array of materials, from the traditional fabrics such as silks and chiffons, to the rather unusual like the coating of an iPhone touch screen being featured on some of the garments – truly unique!

Extremely feminine beautiful pieces pretty much sums up Andrew Majtenyi’s Spring/Summer 2010 Collection.  The softness of the clothing truly is a pleasure to gaze upon and seems to have awakened my girly side…

The Canadian born designer has a strong creative instinct and sophisticated sense of style which shows throughout the gorgeous items of clothing.  Minimalism plays a big roll in this Spring/Summer collection which makes the pieces versatile enough to take you from day to night – just play around with accessories!  Having used the finest Italian and French silks, chiffons and lace gives the dresses that romantic, floaty look to help maintain the femininity.

The colour palette is so girly and dainty with shades such as deep grey mauves and stone mixed alongside the softer silvers and chalks.  Beautiful light prints are used ranging from pretty scattered butterflies to the more technical geometric shapes.  Each piece from this collection shows the female silhouette at its best with the help of clever tailoring which enhances the female figure in all the right places – thumbs up to Andrew!
