That is not to say that Chatham only caters for the hard-core marine enthusiast; they are designed for a vast array of people, ranging from part-time weekend sailors to those who just want the nautical look.

Keds began in 1916 and was launched by the U.S. Rubber Company, since then it has become know as the “original sneaker brand”. The brand also forced the term “sneaker” onto the global stage and managed to pioneer a whole new category of shoe as a consequence.

The first best-seller to show up on the market was the Champion, worn by legends like Paul Newman, Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn. Now, in 2012, the Keds collection is extensive and includes over 125 styles! Here are the details on the new and authentic spring/summer collection 2012/2013…

The spring 2012 collection has been inspired by two trends; Lawn Party & Pool Side. The Lawn Party and pool side collection is a twist on a classic; the style fuses the Keds heritage and 2012 style. Along, with bold colours and tropical prints, the style uses linen and Hopsack as its main materials.

Here are a couple of their main pieces…

For the Gents

The Conquest; a casual comfort shoe, has been modeled on a style from the ‘20s for a dressy, yet sporty look. And the Booster’s (below) design has been fashioned on the classic Mens Booster from the ‘50s and has recently been relaunched.

For the ladies - The Women’s collection for Spring 2012 reveals an exciting diversity with new patterns and profiles. Keds has also reinvented their infamous Champion with their new ‘Too the Point’ style (based on the Pointer style of 1963).

Another great addition to the range is the Jute Ankle Wrap, a brightly colored ballerina with a removable ankle wrap.

She completely transformed herself for the role in The Girl with the Dragon tattoo cutting off and dyeing her hair, plus getting a few piercings, but that hasn’t stopped the talented actress at rocking this dramatic new look.  Her dark hair, pale skin and bright green eyes totally work in her favour allowing her to be a little quirky but elegant when it comes to fashion.  Rooney always seems to look so flawless, evoking a slight old Hollywood glamour edge.  A definite style crush, her look is truly fascinating and us fashionistas can’t get enough!

The stunning actress keeps her accessories simple allowing her choice of garments to be the statement piece.  Her dress choices for red carpet appearances are extremely chic featuring beautiful detailing such as sheer material which compliments her look perfectly. She normally sticks to black, white and nude shades allowing her classic beauty to shine through.  Plain, yet elegant styles are her strong point too and Rooney was also recently snapped in a gorgeous tailored ensemble.  She teamed a structured black and brown patchwork jacket with black shorts, opaque tights and pumps.  I want her wardrobe!
